About the Sharpeners

About the Sharpeners

David Lipkind
A close shave with my Swiss Army knife
Tired of the disposable culture, when David decided to start a new business, he wanted to focus on something that would renew and reuse existing materials.  After looking around, he found that there were no knife-sharpeners in the area, and that he could provide a service that would make dull and unwanted knives and tools like brand new again.
In 2008 David embarked on a training journey to San Luis Obispo where he participated in an apprenticeship with Jason Pintel,  master sharpener.  From Jason, David learned the delicate technique involved in  assessing and sharpening blades of all kinds.  Later in 2009, David found himself in Portland, Oregon studying and training with Debra Fink of Nose to the Grindstone, where he learned the specialized field of sharpening Japanese style salon shears.
